Awarding Bodies

The examining boards insist on a thorough inspection of teaching standards and facilities before accepting any beauty College to teach to their exacting standards. All education undertaken at The Yorkshire College of Beauty Therapy takes into consideration those external examinations which have gained approval from The National Council for Vocational Qualifications (NCVQ).

Professional external examiners conduct all practical examinations for CIBTAC and ITEC and an international delegate conducts the CIDESCO Examination.

A Summary of External Examinations on Offer:

CIDESCOThe Comite International d'Esthetique et de Cosmetologie (CIDESCO) was formed in 1946 to promote the same high standard of training across all its member countries. From Zurich, CIDESCO has established recognised levels of excellence in most countries throughout the world. The CIDESCO diploma is regarded by those in the world of Beauty Therapy as representing the highest standards of training available.

All students attending this course will also have the option of attending the annual CIDESCO World Conference.

The Confederation of International Beauty Therapy and Cosmetology (CIBTAC) is the examining body of the British Association of Beauty Therapy, the largest professional organisation of therapists in the U.K. Founded in 1977; the Confederation administers and adjudicates examinations in Beauty, Body Therapy and Electrolysis. As well as being highly respected in this country, the Confederation has expanded internationally, with diploma holders in many English-speaking countries worldwide.

ITECThe International Therapy Examination Council (ITEC) was founded in 1973 to provide a completely independant examination system, and currently oversees examinations in many countries as well as the UK.

"My association with the Yorkshire College of Beauty began in 1985. I was a tutor there for 3 years, as a result of that, I am familiar with the very high standards that are always in place. I began examining for ITEC in 1988 and have examined regularly at the College ever since. As an International Awarding Body, we as a team, continue to be impressed by the facilities offered and the reliable high standards that prevail."
