EXAMINATION BOARDS

CIDESCO is the worlds most prestigious International Beauty Therapy Association who's main aim is to establish and uphold the highest standards of Beauty and Spa Therapy throughout the world. CIDESCO was founded in Brussels in 1946 and is now based in Zurich, Switzerland. The CIDESCO Diploma is regarded by those in the world of Beauty Therapy as representing the highest standards of training available.

CIBTAC is the examining body of the British  Association of Beauty Therapy. It is the largest professional  organisation of therapists in the UK and was founded in 1977. The confederation has national and international recognition for producing graduates of the highest calibre.
ITEC has been awarding high quality and respected industry qualifications since 1947 and currently holds examinations in many countries abroad as well as in the UK.

City & Guilds are the leading skills development organisation, providing services to training providers, employers and trainees across a variety of sectors to meet the needs of today's workplace. They were founded on November 11, 1878 by the City of London to develop a national system of technical education.

All examination boards carry out a thorough inspection of teaching standards and facilities before accepting any college to teach their exacting standards. Professional external examiners conduct all practical examinations for CIBTC and ITEC and an International overseas examiner conducts the CIDESCO examination.

Here are a few important factors/questions you need to consider .......

1. What are the colleges previous examination results?
2. Are their retention-figures and success rates good?
3. Tutor qualifications and experience
4. Guided learning hours and how/where they are delivered. Ideally should be 100% at college.
5. Student testimonials
6. What regulatory bodies does the college comply with e.g OFTSED, Matrix and Investors in People (ideally all of the above)?
7. Are employment statistics on completion of the course high?
8. Quality assurance procedure
9. Names of salons that employ graduates (should be at least 10).
